Dear MBAs:

Are you ready for the MBA life?

In other Chinese' eyes, the life for MBA students is both
luxurious and exciting.

See, many of them have a laptop, a cellphone or even a
handheld computer. Dressed in quality suits, they are busy with
attending dinner parties or expensive luncheons presented by
future hiring companies. But the real picture behind the
"shining life' is that many of the first year MBA students have
only 4-5 sleep hours every day. From the first day of their
study, they have been running around to look for their summer
intern, researching companies, polishing resumes, and practicing
interview skills. On top of those, most MBA students have
numerous presentations, teamwork meetings, and homework to deal
with.

Last year, Qiu Peng, an MBA student from Penn State
University, has done something no other Chinese MBA students
have ever done. She has written about her life 2-4 times a day
about her real life of an MBA student.

So can you do something now to release the pressure in the
future? Sure you can, do your homework from now on!

  (1) Do research on American companies.

The first and the last course in MBA program are looking for
jobs. The earlier you start to do research, the better you will
perform in job hunting. For example, you can start from
www.vault.com or www.wetfeet.com to have basic knowlege about
American industries, company background, resume tips, and
interview skills. Read businessweek.com and fortune.com to learn
about the inside business stories. You will need them in future
parties and interview lunch and interviews.

  (2) Self-designed Orientation Program

In the first quarter curriculum, find out the most difficult
courses to you. For most MBA candidate, accounting and economics
could be the most difficult courses. Start to study now, if you
can get the original text books in China. As far as we know,
some books are available in Beijing and Shanghai at a very cheap
price.
